How to use it

Measure the vehicle you will actually drive

A clearance sign is only useful when it is compared with the complete loaded vehicle. Measure with mirrors, boxes, racks, roof loads and the trailer in the travel configuration; record the heaviest axle rather than relying only on the registration maximum.

Use a separate record at every point that can control the route. Save the operator's wording, the unit, the time checked and a fallback. The worksheet deliberately keeps an Unknown, Conflict, Denied or Incomplete state out of Allowed.

1. Record the controlling measurement

Capture overall height, width, length, gross weight and the heaviest axle weight. If a trailer or roof load changes the envelope, record its dimensions and weight too.

2. Copy the operator's units

Enter the published clearance, width, length, gross-weight and axle-weight limits exactly as checked. Keep the original unit in the detail field and do not guess when a sign or notice is ambiguous.

3. Decide before the approach

Name the bypass, safe stopping place or turn-back trigger before reaching the restriction. A route decision is easier to change when the reason and the alternative are already recorded.

Vehicle restriction planner questions

Does this tool check live bridge, tunnel or road clearances?

No. It deliberately has no network lookup. Enter the current notice or answer you checked with the responsible operator, then set a next check time. A printed or saved review is not a live clearance guarantee.

Should the dimensions include a trailer and roof load?

Yes. Record the complete loaded travel configuration. Include mirrors, boxes, bike racks, roof cargo, a trailer and any other equipment that changes height, width, length or weight. Use the dedicated trailer and roof-load fields when they apply.

Can I mark a route Allowed when one limit is Unknown or Conflicting?

No. Unknown, Conflict, Denied and Incomplete states are never counted as Allowed. Pending, restricted, adverse, missing and duplicate/conflict checks also keep the record out of the Allowed count until they are resolved.

What should I enter for a road, bridge or tunnel that is not relevant?

Select Not applicable and record why or what you checked in the limit detail and evidence fields. Do not leave the status blank: a blank field is an open check, not a statement that no restriction exists.

How do duplicate and conflict reminders work?

Rows with the same route, point type, exact point, travel window and vehicle type are grouped. Matching answers produce a duplicate reminder; different measurements, restriction statuses or decisions produce a conflict reminder. Compare the operator evidence before deleting or merging a row.

Does the worksheet send or save my vehicle and route information?

No. The tool runs in the browser and uses neither fetch nor localStorage/sessionStorage for the worksheet. Reset clears the current form, and Print opens the browser's print dialog so you can make your own paper or PDF copy.
