Identify the toll method at collection
Autoroutes du Maroc, or ADM, operates the national motorway network and publishes current tariffs by section and vehicle class. Ask whether the rental has a Jawaz transponder and how the company charges its use.
Without Jawaz, follow the signs for a staffed or mixed lane, take the entry ticket where required and pay at the exit. Keep small cash and a working payment card because the accepted method can differ by lane.
Match the class to the assigned vehicle
ADM defines toll classes from measurable vehicle characteristics. A compact passenger car and a tall van may not share the same class.
Ask the desk to state the class on the handover record when the booked model is replaced. Do not infer it from the daily rental price.

Save the motorway help number
ADM’s help material directs motorway users to its authorised assistance process. Use the operator or rental number rather than accepting an unsolicited tow.
Keep the car outside the medina
Collect after a Marrakech walking stay or reserve guarded parking with a written vehicle entrance. A riad’s reception address may lead into a lane that does not suit visitor traffic.
Use a named public or hotel facility as the navigation target. Confirm opening hours, overnight access and whether staff retain the key.
Record the handover in daylight
Photograph the body, wheels, tyres, glass, mileage and fuel level. Add the registration papers, spare tyre or repair kit and any Jawaz device.

Treat mountain roads as a weather decision
Rain, snow, rockfall and road works can affect Atlas crossings. Ask the lodging or local authority about the planned pass, then check the morning forecast and road information.
A map’s shortest route can use a narrow local road. Stay on the signed main corridor when visibility, surface or daylight removes the benefit of a shortcut.
Fuel before the climb
Fill at a known station and confirm the fuel grade at the cap. Carry water, warm layers and a charged phone even when Marrakech begins hot.

Follow barriers and police directions. A vehicle coming from the other side does not confirm that your route, class or conditions are safe.
Finish with a clear payment timeline

Keep toll tickets, Jawaz explanations, parking receipts and the return report until the deposit clears. Compare any delayed toll charge with the section and class.
Remove the plate from apps
Delete the rental registration from parking or fuel accounts after the final transaction. Check that no wallet remains active.
